Chop Your Tree Axes Tier List
S–F rankings for axe upgrades by progression stage and prestige timing.
This tier list ranks Chop Your Tree axe upgrades by coin efficiency — how much chop power you gain per coin spent at each progression stage. Names and prices move with Simple Bricks Trees patches, so treat tiers as decision frameworks and confirm the live shop. Mechanics live on Axes; routines live on Axes & Chopping.
Ranking criteria
- Immediate coin-per-chop jump
- Cost relative to water-machine alternatives
- Value before vs after prestige (axes reset)
- Synergy with weather and tree mutations
S-tier — buy when affordable
First major power spike after the starter axe and best mid-game power cliff before prestige banking. These upgrades usually pay for themselves quickly when watering is already automated. If growth is still manual, finish Auto Taps / Sprinklers first.
A-tier — strong but situational
Solid mid axes that shine when:
- You already own core water automation
- A weather window is active
- You are not within 20–30% of the prestige fee target
Skip if the Prestige Checklist says you should bank coins instead.
B-tier — filler upgrades
Small power bumps that help early but become dead inventory after the next cliff. Buy only if they are cheap relative to your income rate and you are not delaying Auto Tap.
C-tier — cosmetics and traps
Skins or tiny power steps marketed between major cliffs. Ignore while saving for shrine/fee or Nuclear-tier water sources.
F-tier — pre-prestige waste
Any expensive axe purchased minutes before a planned prestige. Prestige deletes axes — spend that money on the reset path or Void planning instead (How to Get Crystals).
Stage table
| Stage | Axe focus | Also read |
|---|---|---|
| First hour | Starter → first S/A jump | Getting Started |
| Automated plot | Mid S/A axes | Earn Coins Fast |
| Prestige banking | Pause axe luxury | How to Prestige |
| Post-prestige | Rebuild S-tier path fast | Endgame Progression |
Pairing with other tier lists
- Water Sources — growth before power
- Mutations — multiply axe chops
- Void Upgrades — permanent multipliers after reset
Example buy paths (framework only)
Path A — new account, first two hours: starter axe → first S/A power cliff → stop axe shopping → finish Auto Taps/Sprinklers → claim group totem → resume mid axes only if chops feel weak.
Path B — pre-prestige banking: freeze A/B axe buys once shrine + fee are visible goals; convert every chop into fee progress; keep the strongest owned axe equipped for weather spikes.
Path C — post-prestige rebuild: buy the cheapest power cliff that restores decent chops under Void coin multipliers, then race water automation again. Do not recreate your entire pre-prestige axe museum on day one of a new layer.
These paths intentionally avoid hardcoding SKU names because Simple Bricks Trees renames and reprices tools. If your shop shows a cliff that doubles chop power for less than a mid fountain, treat that cliff as S-tier for your layer.
Anti-patterns this list punishes
- Buying every listed axe “for completion”
- Spending prestige fee money on a flex skin
- Equipping a weak starter during Galactic because you forgot to swap tools
- Ranking axes above mutation stacking after Void unlock

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Which axe should I buy first in Chop Your Tree?
Buy the first major power jump after the starter axe once basic watering is online. Exact names change — pick the cheapest big chop-power cliff in your shop.
Why are expensive axes F-tier before prestige?
Prestige resets axes. Spending the prestige fee on a luxury axe wastes the reset.
Should axes outrank water machines?
Not until Auto Taps and Sprinklers cover growth. Then axe cliffs often beat duplicate fountains.
Does this tier list include cosmetic skins?
Cosmetics without power are C-tier distractions during progression. Prioritize chop power.
Where do I learn axe mechanics?
Read the Axes system page and the Axes & Chopping guide, then return here for buy order.
