Chop Your Tree Playtime Crates

Playtime points are a second currency track in Chop Your Tree that runs beside coins. Roughly one point per minute spent in the experience fills crates that unlock axes and totems. New players who only shop water machines leave free chop power and permanent boosts on the table. This guide explains how crates work, what to open first, and how playtime spending pairs with prestige and luck weeks.

How playtime points work

RuleDetail
Earn rateAbout 1 playtime point per minute in-game

PrestigePoints and unlocked tools may follow different rules than coin machines — verify live UI after patches

Points accumulate while you water, chop, or AFK on a machine-covered plot. Logging out pauses accrual. Lucky Blocks or Admin Abuse spawns can add bonus opportunities — see Admin Abuse & Patch Schedule.

Axe crates vs totem crates

Axe crates

Axe crates spend playtime points toward chop-power tools. Early guidance from community walkthroughs:

  1. Unlock at least a modest 2× chop axe when the tutorial points you at crates.
  2. Stop chasing ultra-rare higher axe rolls once odds turn terrible (community often cites steep falloff past the first solid power jump).
  3. Pivot leftover points into totem crates for lasting income multipliers.

Axes still reset on prestige along with money and watering cans (How to Prestige). Do not dump a huge playtime bank into luxury axes minutes before a planned reset.

Totem crates

Totem crates unlock placeable multipliers. Priority order:

  1. Claim the free Roblox group totem first — zero playtime cost (Totems & Boosts).
  2. Spend playtime on additional totem rolls after you own a usable 2× axe.
  3. Place totems near the tree so coin and growth bonuses actually apply.

Totems are the long-term reason playtime exists. Axes speed the current layer; totems keep paying after rebuilds depending on live persistence rules — always re-check placement after prestige.

First-hour playtime plan

Minute windowAction
0–10Follow tutorial; buy Auto Taps with coins
~10Open first axe crate when the game prompts
10–30Secure a 2×-class axe; claim group totem
30–60Bank playtime for totem crates; coins go to Sprinklers
OngoingKeep Roblox open during AFK for point accrual

If you only hop in for five-minute checks, playtime accrual is slow — schedule longer sessions when you care about crates.

Playtime during luck weeks and Admin Abuse

During 2× luck promo weeks (August 2026 notes) and Admin Abuse windows (Admin Abuse hub):

  • Keep the client open to earn points while you farm mutations.
  • Save coins and playtime before events so you can smash Lucky Blocks or buy power when spawns appear.
  • Equip your best axe before event chops.

Common playtime mistakes

  • Ignoring crates entirely after the tutorial toast
  • Rolling axe crates forever instead of switching to totems
  • Spending playtime on axes right before prestige
  • Forgetting the free group totem while opening paid crates
  • Assuming YouTube “crate codes” exist — they do not (Codes Hub)

Playtime and the coin loop

Playtime never replaces Autotap economics. A typical healthy session still spends coins on:

  1. Auto Taps / Sprinklers (Water Sources)
  2. Plot expansions toward prestige
  3. Axe shop tiers when they beat crate odds

…while playtime funds:

  1. First usable axe jump
  2. Totem variety after the free group claim
  3. Optional late axe rolls only when totem goals are satisfied

If coin income stalls, open Earn Coins Fast before dumping hours into crate gambling. If prestige fees are close, freeze luxury crate spending the same way you freeze luxury axes.

AFK accrual tip

Leave the Roblox client running on a machine-automated plot while you do homework or chores. You still accrue playtime points even when you are not clicking, as long as you remain connected. Pair that with offline can refill when you fully log out (AFK guide). Do not confuse the two: offline refill works after logout; playtime accrual needs an active session.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I earn playtime points in Chop Your Tree?

Stay in the experience. Players typically earn about one playtime point per minute, then spend points on axe or totem crates in the crate UI.

Should I open axe crates or totem crates first?

Unlock a solid early axe jump (often a 2×-class tool), claim the free group totem, then prioritize totem crates over chasing rare axe rolls.

Do playtime crates replace water machines?

No. Coins still buy Auto Taps and fountains. Playtime is a parallel track for axes and totems.

Do axes from crates survive prestige?

Prestige resets axes with money and watering cans. Avoid heavy axe crate spending right before a planned reset.

Are there codes for free crates?

No verified promo code system exists. Ignore fake crate-code videos and watch official Discord or this Codes Hub if that changes.
